The Escapists 2 is launching for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 22 August. The game will feature ten prisons total, including three transit prisons. A Switch version will come out on a later date.
Team17 and developer Mouldy Toof have just released a new trailer for the Escapists 2. The trailer revealed a new type of prison that will be featured in the game: the prisoner transport vehicle. Or three of them to be exact.
Each prisoner transport vehicle will have its own thing. One is a train, the other is a ship and the third one is an airplane. The train will be rolling down the Cougar Creek Railroad. It will have vultures patrolling the airways above the tracks making sure you get to your destination.
H.M.S Orca will be taking you to a remote island far away from civilization. That may sound good right about now, but you must snap out of it. It's not real. Your white collar criminal past wouldn't come in handy on a remote island anyway.
Air Force Con is the last of the moving prisons. In addition to taking you to prison it also evokes vague memories of Nicolas Cage with shoulder length hair. Just make sure you don't run into John Malkovich or Danny Trejo up there.
All of these will be timed missions you can do on your own or in multiplayer with both local and online co-op and versus modes for up to four players. Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC players will be able to play online multiplayer and local split screen for up to four players. Switch players on the other hand will be able to play online with up to four players and share a split screen between two players.
There will be a total of ten prisons for you to escape from and a drop-in, drop-out online multiplayer experience. The latter means exactly what you think it means. The Escapists 2 will also feature north of 300 customisation options and a brand new combat system to mess up the character you've spent hours customising. Oh and you'll be able to craft a homemade Taser.
The Escapists 2 will launch on 22 August for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. A Switch version will soon follow. You can pre-order the game now via Steam for PC, Xbox One owners can visit the page right here, and if you want to place your order for a PlayStation 4 version, please go here.
