A new entry in the Battlefield series will be releasing in 2018, while the current iteration has gained 2 million players since May 2017. EA will also be announcing some sort of big deal release for Battlefield 1 during this year's Gamescom.
Battlefield 1 has mopped the floor with its competition in the shooter arena since its release in October last year. The latest EA earnings report states that the game has sold over 21 million copies since launch, and 2 million of those sales have been made since May 2017.
A tease for the upcoming entry in the series has also made its way onto the internet, and a lot of players are hoping it will be Bad Company 3 or a new sprout of the Vietnam branch.
Some sort of Battlefield 1 related release is also in the works and will be detailed further during Gamescom in August. EA CEO Andrew Wilson has called the upcoming release a "single package", aiming to wrap up everything Battlefield 1 has to offer. Sounds a lot like some sort of Game of the Year or Complete package will be shipping before the publisher moves on to servicing the following entry in the series.
If you are the sort of person who likes reading about how great EA has been doing in the last financial quarter, you can take in the entire investor call here. It also looks like Mass Effect: Andromeda did great as far as EA is concerned. Something to be said about a healthy marketing biceps.
