Blizzard published an in-universe blog post detailing the events that unfolded at Helix Security International's classified maximum security installation before the Numbani airport attack. The post was heavily geared towards Akande Ogundimu a.k.a. the next Doomfist.

Blizzard updated their Overwatch blog, posting an update concerning the "incident at Helix Security International's classified maximum security installation". Everything was well and good until Doomfist's name was mentioned. After that, all subreddit hell broke loose, and the fans freaked out.

Is Doomfist finally going to make an appearance in the game? There is no confirmation, but all signs pint to yes. You see, Talon organisation coordinated an attack at a maximum security facility "with the express purpose of freeing one man: Akande Ogundimu, better known as Doomfist".

Sombra was there to ensure that the craft carrying her fellow Talon agents "passed through the range of the installation's defense systems without incident". Next, it was Reaper's turn to easily overcome "the Helix security agents, leaving over a dozen dead",  which prompted one Redditor to make this remark:

One Redditor was quick and even made a connection between Sombra's map-specific quote from the Temple of Anubis map: "I'm going to find a way through Helix's firewalls" and the incident.

The post continues:

"Helix officials have been unwilling to reveal whether or not there were additional escapees or items taken from the facility, but sources have indicated that it is likely that there were further security breaches in addition to Ogundimu." But:

After escaping the "prison for the world's most dangerous threats", Ogundimu went dark until he resurfaced "in Numbani, where he clashed with the newly introduced OR15 defense robots at the Adawe International Terminal, easily destroying them and reclaiming the Doomfist."

The blog post concludes:

"those who have objected to the increased privatization of security following the shuttering of Overwatch will have been dismayed that Helix has requested, and been granted, additional funding by the UN to cope with rising threats."

It would be an understatement to say that Overwatch subreddit blew up. You can read the full in-universe blog post right here. How long before we get another tease, or even a video confirming the next hero? It will probably be a couple of weeks, but a video featuring Jeff  Kaplan and Terry Crews is surely in production as we speak.
