CD Projekt Red is launching the Public Beta for their GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. The Beta will begin on 24 May. CD Projekt Red will hold a live stream on their official Twitch channel.
The technical beta for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game ran from 31 March until 03 April, and people were able to create custom decks, access the tutorial and partake in casual online matches. PlayStation 4 users from Europe, North America and South America could download the client form the PlayStation Store.
After the beta ended on 03 April, all accounts made during its run have been deleted. Now, CD Projekt Red announced the Public Beta, scheduled to begin on 24 May. This beta will be available for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Benjamin Lee, Development Director at CD Projekt Red said in the announcement: "Public Beta is the next step in the game’s development process, one that we’d be honored to continue alongside everyone who’s been with us thus far". He added: "It’s also a chance for many new gamers to play GWENT for the first time and we’re looking forward to making the game even better with their help".
The new beta will see everyone start anew. Everything from card collections to player progress will be reset to ensure a level playing field. Card Kegs and other in-game rewards will be given out to the players who participated in the Closed Beta. You can read up more on those rewards here.
In short, you'll get:
- Every Card Keg you purchased — we will return you the amount of Kegs you bought with real money.
- Card Kegs for Player Levels — starting from level 5, you get 2 Kegs every 5 levels.
- Card Kegs for your rank — 2 Kegs for each rank.
- All end-season rewards.
- All items granted as gifts from CD PROJEKT RED (like the gift premium Geralt card).

A short technical transition is in order due to the switch from the Closed to the Public Beta, and that will start on 22 May and last until the Public Beta starts on 24 May. The game servers will be offline for maintenance, but GWENT’s Facebook and Twitter channels will keep us updated on the game’s status.
Catch the Public Beta overview live on the official CD Projekt Red Twitch channel, today at 8:00 PM BST.
