Sanya Weathers, the community director for Undead Labs, shared some information on the number and size of the maps in the upcoming State of Decay 2.
Sanya Weathers is Undead Labs' Community Director and bringer of the news on the number and size of the maps in their latest project - State of Decay 2.
Now, let's talk maps:
Sanya said that the new State of Decay game will launch with three maps, and that each one will be larger than the entire map of the first game.
That means more environments which in turn opens up the possibilities of different weather conditions and different cities.
"You should expect to see slightly different environments, definitely different landmarks and locations, different layouts lending themselves to different strategies, unique home sites, and even different mission types."
The addition of three separate maps to the game enabled the developers to make different types of missions for every map, so the world feels more open and spacious.
The fact that this model leaves the developers more room to release expansions in the form of all new maps with all new everything, doesn't hurt either. And three maps is a good place to start in my opinion.
The question Sanya asked herself, and then promptly answered, was “but what can we take with us between maps?” -Everything in your "supply lockers and rucks" as well as all your people.

State of Decay 2 is a survival game with zombies, coming this year for Xbox One and Windows 10.
There will be a singleplayer and a coop mode for up to three people.
The thing is, there is not one character you control - you play as the whole entire community that is full of people whose stats and skills you can beef up and each of them has traits that can limit what they can do.
