Happy Birthday Seious Sam!
CroTeam is celebrating the 16th birthday of Serious Sam with some seriously interesting new features. The Serious Sam Fusion 2017 beta will be uniting all of the games in the series under one hub-like application. This should enable players to enjoy all of the games from the franchise, along with the VR titles, as if they were a single semi-coherent application.
"Serious Sam Fusion 2017 will enable a lot of cool new features, like a common workshop and cross-game mods. All of the games can be started from one application, so you can jump between playing The First Encounter level to a Serious Sam 3 level and back without exiting the game. When listing game servers, servers playing TFE, TSE, SS3 – will all appear in the same list and you can vote map across games if you want. Oh, and VR games will be able to be played in multiplayer together with their flat counterparts!" the developers explained in a blog post today.
The First Encounter is already integrated into the Fusion system with the remaining games soon to follow. I'm not entirely sure if "VR games being playable in multiplayer alongside the regular ones" means actual cross-platform play, or just VR multiplayer being accessible within fusion. If the former happens to be true, I sincerely hope VR players get a hug and a cookie for every rocket they swallow.
