Back in 2009 James Cameron released a little movie called Avatar
Today, Avatar is still holding its position as the highest grossing movie, second only to Gone With the Wind, when adjusted for inflation. With all the sequels lined up in James Cameron's mind and on paper, the talks of another Avatar video game surfaced at the 2017 GDC.
The game is under development by Ubisoft's studio: Massive Entertainment, the people behind Tom Clancy's: The Division. Along with the studio, the new Avatar game will also be sharing the Division's Snowdrop engine. Massive is currently hiring the people to work on the game, which still has no official name. The title's genre is still unknown. What we do know is that it will be coming out for PC and consoles.
The sequels to the movie, Avatar 2 and 3 are looking at 2018 and 2020 release dates, respectively, so we will be waiting quite a while for more news, let alone the game itself.
