Rain World is currently under development by Videocult
The game is a 2D survival platformer animated using a combination of programmed and traditional animation. Drawing inspiration from the simplicity of 16-bit classics, the gameplay is fast paced, whether the Slugcat is running away from predators or after its prey. A large portion of the time spent on the development has been invested in making the enemy AI deadly and cunning. There are over 1600 rooms in 12 different regions to explore.
As the Slugcat travels through a land plagued by bone-crushing rain, searching for it's family, it will sneak, pounce and climb its way with fluidity and a sense of weight thanks to procedurally generated animation. The game will also feature a co-op and competitive modes for up to four players. The competitive mode will include deathmatches, endurance, waves, custom challenges, etc.
A fresh batch of GIFs is up for inspection on the official site. The short animations provide a taste of what to expect from the final release. Rain World will be released for PlayStation 4 and PC at an unspecified time in 2017.
