The console has a 6.2-inch capacitive screen with multitouch capabilities and 32 gigabytes of internal memory which can be expanded upon via a microSD card.

The most talked about feature are the Joy-Con controllers. There’s a left and a right version, and Joy-Con grip that connects them so they can be used as one controller. Both controllers have an accelerometer and a gyro sensor, enabling them to detect movement. The right Joy-Con has an infrared camera sensor capable of detecting shapes and objects a couple feet away, and a near-field communications wireless sensor, which can read or write data to and from an Amiibo toy. The left controller has a button which allows the player to capture sreenshots. Both controllers include an advanced HD Rumble, which provides compatible games with vibration function. The controllers are available in two versions, in regards to the colour: a grey one and a blue and red combo. The color of the controllers will not affect the overall price.

Peripherals and additional controllers will be available for purchase. The accessories include the Pro Controller (£57), a set of two Joy-Con Wheels (£12), one additional Joy-Con controller (£40), a set of two Joy-Con controllers (£65), the Joy-Con charging station (£25) and the Switch Dock Set (£70).

The system features the main console, a left and right controller, a Joy-Con grip, a set of Joy-Con wrist straps, a Nintendo Switch dock, AC adapter and an HDMI cable.

Battery life will vary between 2.5 and 6 hours depending on the software and usage conditions. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will deplete the battery in roughly three hours. Nintendo Switch can be charged by plugging the AC adapter into the console’s USB Type-C connector.

The console will have online connectivity that will be free during the trial period, which ends in Fall. Non-paying subscribers will have access to the Nintendo eShop, the ability to register and manage online friends list, the chance to share screenshots to social media and control over the console’s Parental Controls app. Paid subscribers, however, will have access to all the non-paid features, with the addition of online gameplay, lobbies and the voice-chat app, along with a special monthly game download and exclusive deals.
