After boiling around in development hell for a while, Scalebound is officialy a no-go with Microsoft

By the looks of it Microsoft had a bit of a mutiny on its hands and things didn't go terribly well for the duo. Rumours bounced back and forth, lots of Platinum project leads were on extended leave and Scalebound's cancellation was finally confirmed by big M yesterday.

While it is quite a bummer, all boats save that one are still afloat. Platinum Games still has the highly anticipated NieR automata set to launch in March and Microsoft's PR people went out of their way to remind everyone that their games console still has some exclusives in store for 2017.

"After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for Scalebound. We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3, State of Decay 2, Sea of Thieves and other great experiences", the official MS statement reads.

Our sincere condolences to all the fans out there that were eagerly awaiting Scalebound, but like it or not, it's time to move on. Chances that the project will be picked up by Microsoft again after this falling out are slim, and it is yet unclear who exactly owns the rights to the name and the work that was already done on the game. There is always the possibility of Platinum Games taking their title to another console, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
