Three minute promo film shows Nintendo's long-awaited 'handheld console', the Switch
Nintendo stepped back into the console war with the first reveal today of its new hybrid 'handheld console' the Switch.
The hardware firm just showed a 3-minute reveal film that gave us some tantalising glimpses of its attempt to once again shift the tone in the debate of what a gaming device should do.
The Switch is a fascinating mix of a small but powerful console that can be handheld, combining a hi-def screen and controllers in a portable package that make it a supersized 3DS.
If you have a TV to output to, you can then disconnect the controllers and use the system as a standard(ish) console.
Games for the new platform haven't been announced, but the slick first promo vid shows Skyrim, Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon - Skyrim on the go!
Launch dates and prices are not yet decided, but it will hit the shops in March 2017.
Nintendo have partnered with Nvidia for the Switch, which will feature a custom-designed Tegra processor.
