Campo Santos' surprise hit to feature as part of tie-up between publisher and Hollywood
With over 1m copies sold on all platforms, Firewatch has been one of the surprise hits of 2016. Now it's caught the eye of moviemakers who think its intriguing and mysterious storyline is perfect for the big screen.
The game features only two major characters, fire marshalls Henry and Delilah who keep watch over the forests and nature of Wyoming, and never meet - walkie talkies and signals are the only way the pair communicate. As the game develops we learn much of the back stories of these pair, as well as becoming embroiled in a good old fashioned crime mystery.
Voiced by Cissy Jones and Rich Sommer, the pair's relationship, relaxed-yet-unsettling atmosphere, music, and feel of the game made it one of the breakout games of the year so far.
Hollywood Reporter says movie studio Good Universe are fully behind a film and expanded game project, and quotes Campo Santos founder Sean Vanama saying: "When we met Good Universe we were floored by how they recognize, cultivate and produce incredible stories.
"It's rare you meet another group that shares so many of your values and makes the process of creating things even more exciting. We can't wait to see what we make together."
