Niantic shared their plans for the upcoming Pokemon Go Earth Day event and they include a lot of cleanups that can get you many in-game rewards. These include Shiny Diglett and increased appearance of Ground-type Pokemon among other things.
Giratina making a return to Pokemon GO on 28 March 2019
Niantic announced that Pokemon GO's first 4th Gen Legendary Pokemon Giratina is coming back to Raid Battles on 28 March 2019. Giratina will be in its Altered Forme until 02 April, followed by almost a full month in its Altered Forme.

Pokemon Go is celebrating the equinox with a new event that is scheduled for tomorrow - 19 March 2019, 1:00 PM PT. During the event, Grass-type Pokemon like Oddish, Exeggcute, Sunkern and Shroomish will appear more frequently in the wild.

Niantic revealed a new event for Pokemon Go named Legendary Lunch Hour which will bring an increased number of raids between 12:00 PM and 01:00 PM. The event is added to encourage players to hunt Pokemon during their lunch breaks.

Niantic have announced that Pokemon Go Battle Showdown event kicked off and that it would feature fighting-type Pokemon. It is host to several bonuses out of which new a Shiny Machop and Mankey are arguably the most notable additions.

Niantic have revealed Pokemon GO's upcoming anniversary event which starts on 26 February 2019. During the celebrations, players will get to encounter Shiney Pidgey and Shiney Rattata alongside the new special version of Pikachu and Eevee.

Niantic have announced that the next Pokemon GO Community Day will take place on 23 March 2019. It will feature Treecko and will run from 15:00 to 18:00 regardless of which time zone players may be in, rendering time conversions obsolete.

Niantic have announced that Pokemon GO players will be able to switch teams after 26 February 2019, but the feature will have a few constraints to prevent massive team hopping. Just make sure your Pokemon are not farming while switching.

Niantic have decided to settle the class-action lawsuit in the US that came as a result of consolidating numerous nuisance lawsuits filed in 2016, by home owners who weren't happy about crowds of Pokemon GO trainers invading their privacy.
