Bethesda's mammoth Starfield might not launch in the first half of 2023 but it's still coming this Summer, according to the latest rumours.
The official release date for Bethesda's long-awaited RPG Starfield is currently the first half of 2023, but there's a chance that there's another small delay on the way. According to YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Starfield might not launch in the first half of 2023.
"Starfield is getting a possible bump out of the first half because it's currently undated," MrMattyPlays said in the latest episode of Defining Duke podcast. He clarified that the delay is not significant and that Starfield should still release this summer. "Still [coming this] Summer but possibly [delayed] out of the first half"
YouTuber added that the source who revealed this information to him was spot on before. "This source is someone that I trust quite a bit and they've been very correct...nothing from that source has been wrong," Matty explained.
Since this is just a rumour at this point, you should take it with a dose of scepticism, just like any other unconfirmed information. Having said that, we certainly would not be surprised if Xbox and Bethesda announced another delay for Starfield for one obvious reason.
It's the biggest Xbox console exclusive in a long, long time and Xbox surely want to make it right and avoid an unoptimised, bug-ridden release that would take away from the excitement and critics' scores.
And on top of that, we've waited for Starfield for years and years so a couple of more months certainly won't hurt. Oh, and 2023 is packed with incredible releases anyway so it's not like we have nothing to play.
Of course, there's still a chance that Starfield arrives in the first half of 2023, given that the recently published support page reiterated the current release date. Microsoft and Bethesda also announced that a deep dive showcase for Starfield is in the works so it could be possible that the game is on track to hit H1 2023 release window.
Starfield is exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem and will be launching on PC and Xbox Series X|S via Game Pass.
