Space Pirates And Zombies 2, an indie space strategy, is an early access game now available on Steam. There will be refunds available for everyone who bought the game in anticipation of some multiplayer sci-fi silliness. Devs apologise.
Recently, a blog on the game's Steam page revealed that the developers are having some trouble getting the Arena multiplayer mode to work in the new engine. With four weeks of work and nothing to show for it, coupled with the fact that the interest on the forums was almost nonexistent, they decided against the mode altogether.
They explained: "Do we keep pressing ahead on Arena multiplayer which likely will only have a small following and will take many more months than expected, or do we spend that time making the single player better. We think it is more important to make the game better."
Refund requests will be handled manually as Steam is unable to remove the automated 2-week ownership time limit. Anyone who wants a refund can contact the developer via the email address .
The developers are "going to build new maps for the sandbox mode, release an greatly expanded set of sandbox gameplay mutators, add a much more difficult insane difficulty level, and we will focus on making the end game more challenging once you have that massive battleship."
