Microsoft's rumoured Xbox Lockhart/Series S console could be half the price of the flagship model Xbox Series X according to reliable Microsoft insider eastmen.
Rumours about Xbox Lockhart just won't go away. The less powerful, digital-only console, which has been subject of many speculation and discussion is yet to be officially revealed by Microsoft but according to several reports, and the latest trademark , Xbox Lockhart could indeed be real.
Today, we have a couple of new details about the console from Microsoft insider known as eastmen. As always with rumours, leaks and info from unofficial sources, a good dose of scepticism is desirable. That being said, eastmen is known as a reliable source on Beyond3d forum, so it's possible that the info is legit.
In short, the insider claims that Xbox Lockhart or Xbox Series S will be half the price of the Xbox Series X but sadly, eastmen does not know the final pricing for the Series X console. However, he had heard that Microsoft were prepared to go with $400 pricing for Series X, which sounds too good to be true.
Additionally, the insider explains that Lockhart price depends on Series X pricing which again depends on the PlayStation 5 price. "Microsoft wants to have the most powerful console while being priced as low as or lower than its competition," he wrote in the post.
Given that Sony plan to reveal the price only after Microsoft have revealed the price of the new Xbox, this is shaping up to be the biggest game of cat and mouse of 2020.
