Phil Spencer: Next-gen games will change dramatically thanks to CPU and SSD

Speaking about the technologies in XSX that will allow a gigantic leap in games, Xbox's Phil Spencer said that thanks to the CPU upgrade, SSD and memory bandwidth the feel of next-gen games will change as dramatically as any since 2D to 3D.

Next-generation consoles from both Microsoft and Sony are finally coming later this year with full reveal events rumoured for May and June 2020. As you may know, both consoles will pack quite a punch with many hardware and software upgrades.

Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer has talked about some of these new technologies over at Twitter and what exactly will Xbox Series X's hardware mean for games. When asked about what technologies allow for a gigantic leap that we will hopefully see with the new consoles, Spencer replied that it is a combination of technologies like Dynamic Latency Input (DLI), SSD and more.

According to Spencer, these technologies will change the feel of the upcoming, next-gen games, as dramatically as any since 2D titles to 3D.

"RT on console will be great. I'm very focused on the work we are doing around Dynamic Latency Input (DLI).  In my view the feel of games this upcoming generation will change as dramatically as any since 2D to 3D given CPU upgrade, DLI, memory bandwidth and SSD," Spencer said.

Of course, Spencer's job is to make Xbox Series X look like the most impressive console of the next-generation and whether these new technologies really bring such a gigantic leap for games it remains to be seen.

Hopefully, we will find out more in the next couple of months on the rumoured Xbox events.
