Reliable industry insider Jeff Grubb reveals that Forza Motorsport has indeed been delayed and is now set to launch in Q3 2023 or even later than that.
One of the most anticipated Xbox Series X|S exclusives, Forza Motorsport , was supposed to launch this Spring but Turn 10 Studios revealed in Xbox Developer Direct that the release window is now simply "2023".
Obviously, this would mean that Forza Motorsport has been delayed but neither Turn 10 Studios nor Xbox clarified this release date change. However, reliable industry insider Jeff Grubb has revealed that Forza Motorsport has indeed been internally delayed and is now targeting the second half of 2023.
"What Im hearing about this...is that Forza [Motorsport] is going to slip later into the year and probably won't be the first half of the year," Grubb said in the latest episode of the Game Mess podcast.
"The time frame that I'm hearing for Forza is Q3 and maybe even later than that."
Of course, this makes perfect sense since the release date is now only "2023". Whether or not Forza Motorsport comes in the early second half of 2023 or closer to Q4 2023, it remains to be seen.
For those unfamiliar with yearly quarters, Q3 covers the months of July, August and September so expect to see more Forza Motorsport in the coming months and probably at Xbox's big summer showcase in June.
Of course, this delay doesn't necessarily mean that Forza Motorsport is in trouble, quite the contrary, Turn 10 Studios probably want to further polish the game and have a perfect launch. Additionally, there's Starfield, a mammoth release for Xbox so it's entirely possible that Forza's delay is strategic to give Starfield room to shine.
