Games Done Quick, the speedrunning extravaganza that raises money for various charities has done it again in a spectacular fashion as they organised a mini-event with the goal of raising money for Covid-19 relief.

Summer Games Done Quick had to be delayed to mid-August 2020 due to Coronavirus ruining everything for everyone but that didn't stop the organisers from doing their thing.

First, as we already mentioned, they delayed the charity event instead of cancelling it and second, they organised a smaller one that ran from 17 to 19 April 2020. Instead of going for an entire week, the speedrunning charity event was held for the duration of the weekend, which may not sate the hardcore fans' thirst for the marathon but keep in mind that it had to be organised on short notice during a time where gatherings are banned everywhere.

Still, this did not stop Corona Relief Done Quick from pulling impressive numbers. For example, the event raised $400,000 with all the proceeds going to Direct Relief which is an organisation that helps improve the lives of those struck hardest by poverty and emergencies.

While Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) and Awesome Games Done Quick (GDQ) regularly raise several million USD, the organisers did not have nearly as much time for setting up CRDQ due to the sudden nature of Covid-19.

That said, while the speedrunning showcase is now done, the donation period is not. In case you wanted to pitch in , you could still do so at the time of writing.

If you wanted to watch some of the runs but missed out, you can still do so on GDQ's Twitch channel. CRDQ speedrun VoDs have been split into two parts, one starting on 17 and another on 18 April 2020.
